The Government of New Zealand introduced The Prime Minister’s Space Prizes in 2024 to recognise the talented people working in New Zealand’s space and emerging aviation sectors and to inspire young people to pursue a career in these sectors.

 

There are two prizes, with a combined value of $150,000 NZ Dollars.

 

 

 

The Prime Minister’s Space Prizes are awarded to:

The Prime Minister’s Space Prize for Professional Excellence

This prize is for a professional working in the space sector and/or emerging aviation sector, recognising their outstanding achievements and contribution to the sector, worth $100,000 NZ Dollars.

The Prime Minister’s Space Prize for Student Endeavour

This prize is for a Year 12 or 13 student who is undertaking or has recently completed a science, technology or engineering project related to the space sector and/or emerging aviation sector, worth $50,000 NZ Dollars.
